David Blaikie retrofits hillside Arts and Crafts house in Glasgow
Source: Edinburgh-based David Blaikie Architects updated this inter-war house for £210,000. The project was one of nearly 200 entries received for last year’s AJ Small Projects competition, which is open for entries in 2021 The existing classic Arts and Crafts house, which sits on a raised site to the south-west of Glasgow, has a white harled facade with brick detailing – common for Scotland. The clay tile cottage-style roof references its Glaswegian location along with Mackintosh motifs on the wrought iron gates.
