Karachi commissioner issues directives to ensure work on project does not cause traffic-related problems
KARACHI:
The construction of a corridor from Malir Halt to Numaish, under the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, is expected to start this month, the arrangements for which are being finalised, Karachi Commissioner Navid Ahmed Shaikh was told during a meeting he was presiding over on Tuesday.
In the meeting, called to review the arrangements for the construction, transport secretary Shariq Ahmed called to the mind that the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council had approved the project so that it had two corridors - one extending across a length of 27 kilomteres from Malir Halt to Numaish and another between Numaish to Merewether Tower - and over Rs70 billion had been allocated for the scheme. ....

Students of various universities demand online examinations

Students of various universities demand online examinations

As semesters are drawing to a close, students of some varsities have started making the demand for online examinations as their classes were also held online. Demanding online exams, students of the Textile Institute of Pakistan on Monday demonstrated a protest on the National Highway.
The protesters blocked the road and chanted slogans against the administration of the institute. They were of the view that they had been studying online for the last two semesters. Therefore, the administration should also conduct online exams.
Talking to the reporters, they said that they would not appear in the on-campus exams. They also complained about the fee structure and told that instead of reducing tuition fee, the institute had increased it without informing the students. ....
