this afternoon it came ashore as near category 5 strength, as a high category 4 after bidding for hours as it approached. oh, you got to be kidding me! you got to be kidding me right now! right now it is still a category 3 storm, still a major hurricane with damaging winds spanning out 175 miles from the center. oh, my god. no less troubling than the winds tonight, potentially even worse hurricane ian is still pushing a massive storm surge onshore. forecasts as high as 18 feet in places where buildings living close to the water was why so many people moved there. take a look. this is fort meyers beach, and that is a community outreach center knocked off its foundation and floating down the street. making matters worse, the flood waters affecting residents who are doing the same to rescuers. a fire station here in naples is what first responders are up against along with anyone needing emergency help. and again, these conditions are not expected to improve throug ....

hello. live in atlanta, 3:00 a.m. in florida. we continue to follow the path of hurricane ian. now, weaker, but still a major worry. that hurricane has finally been downgraded to a category-1 storm, but it s still moving menacingly right above the state of florida and heading northeast winds, approximately 75 miles or 125 kilometers per hour, still lashing large sections of the state.just 12 hours after it crashed in southwest florida as an almost category-5 hurricane. as you can imagine, there have been power outages with more than 2 million homes and businesses in the dark. that s about 20% of customers throughout the state the mayor of fort myers, meantime, saying, 96% of his entire city has lapsed with electricity. meanwhile, charlotte county, florida, telling cnn, rescuers can only do so much during the height of the storm. unfortunately, our dispatch continues to receive calls from the 911 center, and just like every other county, the emergency response, they ge ....

today. authorities first responders and volunteers awaiting opportunity to rescue those in need and we are told there s many who need need. more than 2 million people without power as the damage assessments either are beginning or are about to begin. we ve got team coverage with fox contributor beginning west where hurricane ian is headed. good evening. hickam a trace. since we last spoke, the amount of people without power in orange county is more than double. overy 69,000 without power are in orange county and we are still waiting for the worst of what hurricane ian has to offer with this part of the state and we have seen the devastation in southwest florida. a place that i ve lived. the storms going to hit the orlando area like it is right now, possibly downgraded to a tropical storm but either way it s going to dump a lot of rain on these communities. over 40 inches expected with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour and we see it best right now. i want to show ....
