Town academy manager Dean Wright says the Blues’ youth set-up is currently going through a staff recruitment process with coaches for the U21s and U18s top of the list, an assistant academy manager and head of recruitment having already been appointed.
New academy manager Dean Wright has outlined the recruitment strategy at Playford Road and some of the challenges the club faces when it comes to scouting and retaining young players.
Dean Wright, who was appointed Town’s academy manager in the summer, says a move to category one is “on the table if it’s the right thing for the club” but is not the subject of serious discussion at present.
Academy manager Dean Wright took on his role at Playford Road in July and TWTD caught up with him earlier in the week to ask how his first five months at the club have progressed.
Young central midfielder Osman Foyo, who recently netted the winner for the Blues’ U18s as they came from 2-0 down to beat Huddersfield 3-2 in the FA Youth Cup, will formally join Town when the January transfer window opens.
