Simplifying the tax code, what has he indicated he might favor? you just ran a sound bite from the president on npr radio. he said we need a fundamentally different approach. the president has also said we got to have tax reform, direct quote. maybe the president is going to leapfrog over the current tax debate and look towards making looking at the decifit commission s reduction of tax rates and the elimination of some tax deductions, tax deductions for both corporation and for individuals. maybe he s going to embrace radical tax reform, possibly in the state of the union message next january. if he did that, he s got a way of becoming the great deficit cutter, addressing the decifit issue, and at the same time, taking the political initiative away from the republicans. it s a possibility. lots of speculation about that. bill: refresh our memory. what did the decifit commission a week ago recommend? ....
