National forests announce seasonal road closures Seasonal closures in the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests have begun, with affected roads closed to motorized vehicles through April. Planned opening dates may change depending on weather.  These closures help reduce road maintenance costs and decrease wildlife disturbance, allowing the animals to conserve energy while food is scarce. James Randall Beshears, 74, of Deep Gap passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at his home with his family, where he received his sight for the first time. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, at Yellow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dave Adams officiating. Randall was born Dec. 21, 1945, in Wilkes County to Frank and Mary Vea Whittington Beshears. Randall loved good music, friends and good food.
