Punjab: Dalit Boys Forced to Walk With Tied Hands for Four Kms in Sangrur

New Delhi: Four Dalit boys, aged 11 to 13, were tied by their wrists and made to walk four kilometres in Punjab’s Sangrur district for a theft they had allegedly committed. The incident came to light when a video of the incident surfaced online and went viral, according to media reports.
A case has been registered at Dhuri Sadar police station in the district, and the police have already arrested four men in connection with the incident. The families of the boys have also petitoned the state child rights commission. ....

PATIALA: Four persons including the Sarpanch of Bhasaur village of Sangrur have been booked under various sections of IPC, SC/ST Act and Juvenile Justice Act for allegedly forcing three Dalit children to walk few kilometres with their hands tied after they were caught in a theft case.
The incident allegedly took place a week ago when some villagers of Banbauri village in Sangrur had caught four minor Dalits for allegedly stealing Rs 250 to 300 from a tomb in Banbauri village. The minor boys, all 13 years old, hailed from Bhasaur village which is around four kilometres away from Banbauri village. ....
