An Angola, Indiana, man was hurt badly in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Northwest Township. The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that at 8:36 a.m., a 2008 Buick sedan driven by Hugh M. Skiles, 91, of Angola, was traveling southbound on County Road 1.50 while a 2017 Jeep SUV driven by Jennifer A. Horne, 41, of Edon, was traveling northbound on that road. The preliminary investigation indicates that Skiles’ Buick traveled left of center while negotiating a curve and collided head-on into Horne’s Jeep. Tyler J. Blankemeyer has been selected the 2020 Trooper of the Year for the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Defiance Post. His selection is in recognition of outstanding service throughout the year.
