parallel to us, so i'm guessing that the waves are going to be up here near this dune. the good thing is that north carolina beaches, a lot of them are protected by big dunes, unlike the gulf coast. but the waves can get monstrous, in an area where there's not the big dunes, you can get washouts, roads that are completely cut off. so that's going to be the fear here as this storm comes on board. we do have evacuations, mandatory evacuations for all visitors here in derrick county and the entire outer banks and some mandatory evacuations for some residents in some of the outlying islands. the forecast hasn't changed a whole lot. if it does jog a little farther west, we'll see cat two, cat three winds here. we'll be in the eyewall. but as it stands now, we're hoping the forecast verifies, and it would probably give us category one-strength winds tonight around midnight. as the guys in the cnn severe weather center have been telling you, it's too close to call when
