And the thing that kept me going was just like i said, you know, seeing children and women there, you know, defenseless against this storm with rising waters. when my relative contacted me that the water levels in an hour pretty much moved about 4 feet. and as we were rescue, it moved another foot and a half. so i did not want to leave people out there to die if i was in a position to help. what we re learning i think right now, desean, is the steeliness of those from the bahamas. i spoke with another resident, a college student there, and he was saying the same thing, he stuck around, he is going to stick around, he won t run away from this fire. what is it that you need right now? i have heard anecdotes of waiting for a loaf of bread for hours, of waiting to get a gallon of gas for hours. and those are sort of the indications no running water, no electricity. the words used in this situation, humanitarian crisis. what do you need? ....
yeah, i mean, personally, i ve been prepared for this storm. i m always prepared in terms of my family. i take huck ke hurricanes very seriously. but a lot of people lost everything, so right now they have nothing, they have no income, no home, they have no personal belongings. so i think everything is needed. but basic essentials of water, personal items, food, and yes gasoline shortages, long lines are taking a toll right now. i ve been through this several times and this is probably one of the worst that i ve seen. very important businesses in our community are right now totally shut down for the foreseeable future and that will cause added issues. desean smith, hats off to you, my friend. thank you so much for what you have done and what i know that you will do as the bahamas recovers from this, what you see on the screen right now. ....
