South Western Railway has decided to extend the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (Memu) trains on the Devanahalli to Chikkaballapur route for travellers to visit Nandi Hills in Bengaluru.
The electrification between Yelahanka and Chikkaballapur was completed in March 2022, but the introduction of electric trains on the route was delayed by SWR
Nandi Hills is bordered by two districts. While the project requires nine acres in Chikkaballapur district, another seven acres is required in Bengaluru Rural district. A meeting will be held with the farmers soon.
