By Pat Sweeney The co-founder of the North Dakota Association for the Disabled (NDAD) has died. Ron Gibbens died Sunday morning while in hospice care at the Grand Forks home of his son, Mike. Inspired by Mike, who has cerebral palsy, Ron and his late wife Faye built NDAD from an informal Grand Forks support group for parents of children with disabilities. Bryon peacefully passed away at Altru Hospital on January 7, 2021. Born February 10, 1970 @ Northwood ND to Veronica (Kurt) Apolony and Bernard Smith (deceased) Bryon worked at Squires cafeteria at UND through job coach services. He attended Development Homes ACES program, Anne Carlson’s and LISTEN when he was unable to work at UND. He attended and graduated from Valley Junior High School in Grand Forks ND.
