Devizes Lions Club member Nick Seager, 75, has set himself an extraordinary challenge: to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats - a challenge known as LEJOG. He will become one of the oldest people to complete the ride without a support team, and is embarking on the challenge to raise funds for the Lions. Historic church to host book sale this weekend Hundreds of books will be available from a church in Devizes this weekend. The sale is scheduled for May 22, between 9:30am and 3:00pm, in St Mary’s Church on New Park Street. There are about 2,000 books to choose from – all fiction titles are sorted by author, A to Z, and non-fiction sorted by topic, just as done in the past at the Lion’s Christmas Fair.  All the recent books are in good condition, plus a number of collectables. Two members of the Devizes Lions Club have together amassed over 100 years of the voluntary service to the local community. The impressive milestone has been reached as the Club marked the 50th anniversary of its founding. With the support of the local community for over the last five decades, the Devizes Lions have raised many thousands of pounds to help support local people and various charities.
