Rabindranath's 160th birth anniv today
Due to the pandemic, there is no official event on the occasion in the country. Nobody influenced the minds of so many Bengali-speaking people before or after Rabindranath. His influence has been compared, by many, to that of Shakespeare in the English-speaking world. The youngest of 13 surviving children of Debendranath Tagore and Sarada Devi, Rabindranath, nicknamed Rabi, was born on 25th of Baishakh in 1268 (May 7, 1861) in Kolkata's Jorasanko Mansion.
