Two communities - Amurie Omanze and Oboro Amurie - in the Isu Local Government Area of Imo State have fixed January 4, 2024, to publicly announce the abolition of Osu, also known as the caste system. Meanwhile, a human rights organisation, Pillars of Hope Africa Initiative (POHAI), in a statement on Saturday signed by its Executive Director, Mrs. Chinyere Oge-Kalu, described the caste system as appalling, disgusting, detestable, repulsive, reprehensible and repugnant.
