McAdoo approves no tax increase in tentative budget

There will not be a property tax increase in the Borough of McAdoo in 2021 if a tentative budget approved Tuesday night is approved in final form later this month.
Borough council unanimously approved a tentative spending plan that keeps the property tax millage at the 2020 level — 18.36 mills, including 3 mills for streets.
The $1,045,000 spending plan lists expenses of $983,440, leaving a net income of $61,560.
The budget will now be advertised for the required 10 days, and the final budget will be considered at a special meeting scheduled for Dec. 23 at 5 p.m. at the borough building on North Hancock Street.
At the special meeting, council may consider hiring part-time help to enforce the borough’s parking laws.
