happened politically, if he did lie, and by the way, opr, i have done opr investigations. for them to believe he misled them intentionally, they really had to they know what it was going to cost him. they empathized but they went after him and they are not the president. peter, one other question to you, talking about mccabe who has been a lightning rod for the president on the mueller investigation, the president tweeting about mccabe several times, one tweet asking why sessions didn t replace mccabe sooner, as in this example. why didn t sessions replace andrew mccabe, comey friend but got big dollars, $700,000 from his wife s political run. drain the swamp says the president. peter, the question, as mccabe s star goes down for the moment, the sessions star rise?
protect himself or his businesses or his associates, then he has more of a problem. and i am certain that the special counsel s office is trying to find out about these discussions and what sort of pressure was brought to bear on chris wray. row naugenato, president tru insistence the mccabes are allies of the clintons and he believes that tainted the fbi investigation into the clinton e-mails. trump tweeted in july, why didn t sessions replace acting fbi director andrew mccabe, a comey friend in charge of the clinton investigation, but got big dollars, $700,000, for his wife s political run from hillary clinton and her representatives, drape the swamp. does president trump have a legitimate gripe here? should andrew mccabe and his wife s political aspirations be kept separate? i have to say i think that he doesn t have a legitimate political gripe here. and more importantly, i just think what he s doing here is
the road. right. which doesn t work with bob mueller. would he use that with bob mueller? what would bob mueller try to get from him that he would not give? you ll remember jeff sessions recused himself from anything having to do with the russia probe back, you know, a year ago or so, infuriating the president. the president who didn t sessions himself at the risk of losing his job did feel like he needed to, he did that. and now he s sat down for hours with bob mueller. and, again, the things the questions that jeff sessions could answer deal with the two issues that seem to be of some interest to the special counsel, alleged collusion and alleged obstruction of justice. on the issue of collusion, jeff sessions was at these meetings, the meetings with josh papadopoulos. and at the meeting with george
participate in the process. rich is right. she s as guilty as all get-out. we should see what she did and why didn t sessions prosecute her and her cohorts, that s what i want to know. david: when she s talking about fears of intimidation and she mentions mark meckler, one of the founders of the tea party. i had a chance to talk to him. she said he called her a thug. he was kind of unapologetics. they behaved like criminal thugs, not like government public servants so i think it was a deserved comment. the reality is this, they don t want people to know because what they did is so bad. they must have said something on the record in those depositions that will make people angry and they re trying to keep it secret and that s outrageous. david: and that deserves to be done. given everything out of washington recently and all the lies, i certainly don t trust the bureaucracy there to tell us that this doesn t need to come out. we deserve to know as others have said. by the way, if she
came out last night. and then it comes on the heels of what the president said. there has to be sort of a lot of people pausing and saying whoa, wait a minute. did he know something that we didn t know before this came out? but you know, also to the point, though, in fairness, trump has been very unhappy with sessions. that s also been widely reported. he has been unhappy with sessions for months now. and so conflicting accounts of the meetings, his testimony. great. yeah. all of this you know, this is all sort of a mess. and i think the best thing as the admiral said is let everything play out. selena, i m going to cut you off. please stand by both of you, let s go to norfolk, the commissioning of the uss gerald r. ford. here s the president. donald trump.
