Diggin' Downtown faces delays in stage two

Huntsville’s Diggin’ Downtown construction project will remain in its second stage until further notice. “The reality is, right now we are between four and six weeks behind schedule,” said Director of Operations and Protective Services Steve Hernen, addressing the July virtual Council. “Originally this stage of the project, from Brunel to West Street, was supposed to be completed last week. 'It's like a root canal,' Business owners impacted by Huntsville rejuvenation project

HUNTSVILLE, ONT. -- The Town of Huntsville is in the fifth month of its massive project to rejuvenate the downtown core. "The access is still open, you can't drive in front of the store, but we are creating as much parking as we can on the back streets. We encourage people to come downtown and visit your favourite business," said Stephen Hernen, operations director for the town. In the middle of the Diggin' Downtown project is The Record Shoppe.

Huntsville downtown construction to enter stage two in early June

SHARE ON: The downtown construction in Stage One (Photo: Martin Halek) Huntsville’s Diggin’ Downtown project is set to enter its second stage by the second week of June. The first stage of the project was originally scheduled to finish by the end of May, but was extended because of historic building foundations, according to District of Muskoka Director of Transportation and Engineering Mark Misko. “A lot of these buildings are very old, to say the least, and they’ve got some interesting foundations that we had to work with,” says Misko. “That’s some of the reason we’re seein...
