Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has today released recommendations on ‘Telecommunication Infrastructure Sharing, Spectrum Sharing, and Spectrum Leasing’. Trai is recommending a new digital infrastructure licence category as a means of reducing network infrastructure costs and improving mobile broadband coverage in congested areas. The permit would not attract a licence fee but be subject to an entry fee of Rs 200,000 and an application fee of Rs 15,000. Trai wants to ensure that holders of this digital connectivity infrastructure provider permit have access to radio equipment, without any assignment of spectrum. ....
Trai: The sector regulator has also suggested that the proposed DCIP permit must not attract any licence fee. Instead, it has recommended an entry fee of Rs 2 lakh and an application processing fee of Rs 15,000. ....
