Sleepy Poet to close its doors in downtown Gastonia A business heralded as a game-changer by city officials when it arrived in downtown Gastonia five years ago will close its doors May 31. The Sleepy Poet, a three-floor antique mall located in the historic S.H. Kress Five and Dime Building on West Main Avenue, dominated the 100 block with more than 36,000 square feet of space.
