St Joseph's Foundation to benefit from windfall under Disability Fund


Two Cork-based charitable organisations are to benefit to the tune of almost €47,000 under the first tranche of funding under the Government's Strengthening Disability Fund.
The fund, announced as part of Budget 2021, set aside €20million for one-off grants to reform disability services and bolster the capacity of disability organisations, with the ultimate aim of improving the quality of life for those who rely on these services.
Under the first round of the initiative, the St Joseph's Foundation in Charleville has been allocated €38,720 for IT-related developments and upgrades.
Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind has been allocated €8,170 for building works and refurbishments to its headquarters on the Model Farm Road in Cork.

Details of Disability Services Fund announced


The Minister of State with responsibility for Disability Services at the Department of Health, Anne Rabbitte TD, has announced the first tranche of successful applications to the €20 million Strengthening Disability Services Fund.
Announced as part of Budget 2021, the one-off grants are being provided to reform disability services, build the capacity of disability organisations and to improve the quality of life of those who rely on these services.
Just one Clare group has been included in the first tranche of funding. Camphill in Mountshannon will receive €2,256 for enhanced service user supports.
Minister Rabbitte commented, “There have been a vast array of applications submitted by disability services across the country, with the aim of improving services in a real and tangible way. We sought projects that help further embed a culture of person-centred practice, which is key to how disability services operate.

Donegal organisations to benefit from €20m Strengthening Disability Services Fund - Highland Radio


Two Donegal organisations are to receive funding as part of the first tranche of the €20m Strengthening Disability Services Fund.
iCARE's, iADULT Day Service has been allocated just over €1,300 for assistive technology while Donegal Horizons has received €5,600 in funding to go towards assistive technology also.
The one-off grants, announced as part of Budget 2021, are being provided to reform disability services across the country, build the capacity of disability organisations and to improve the quality of life of those who rely on these services.

Kerry Parents and Friends to get over €106,000


The allocation is part of the Strengthening Disability Services Fund.
The group provides residential, respite and day care services to adults with intellectual disabilities across Killarney, Listowel, Rathmore, Castleisland, Tralee and Cahersiveen.
Education Minister and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD, Norma Foley is welcoming the funding which she says will help to improve facilities.
Kerry Fine Gael TD and Government deputy Chief Whip Brendan Griffin has welcomed the funding.
