Haiti s prime minister declaring a state of emergency that will last for at least a month, as disaster response experts assess the damage. but the outlook there is grim. the u.s. geological survey is expecting high casualties and widespread disaster. we have live team coverage tonight. alex hogan is standing by as haitian americans in new york city wait to hear word of their loved ones. but first, ryan chilcote has the latest on the quake s aftermath. ryan? yeah, the epicenter of that quake was about 5 miles off the haitian coastline at a depth of about 30,000 feet. whenever you have a quake like that, you have two immediate dangers to consider, first off the possibilities that the quake could be followed by a tsunami. that didn t happen. the united states put out a tsunami warning, but then lifted it. there were reports that water did come inland but it then treated. the other concern of course is the damage that the quake does to the island itself, and that is the much more serious ....
