After almost three decades of democracy and freedom, it is no longer valid to say all that is wrong in SA is because of white people, colonialism, and apartheid. What has become explicit is that our black leaders and elders have insulted us and failed to make circumstances good for us. The elders of today are glued to their seats, enjoying their control over a younger generation that is destitute.

I noticed a tender contract 3224 (advertised DD Jun 14) for “appointment of service provider to provide services to design, construct, supply, deliver and install bronze life-size statues of Steve Tshwete and Victoria Mxenge in Duncan Village”. I — and, I’m sure, many other concerned citizens — will question this absurd tender in the financially constrained times we are experiencing.
