Resistance Committees, doctors, lawyers, and activists have condemned the excessively violent response by the Sudan Armed Forces and associated paramilitaries, to the December 19 Marches of the Millions in the capital Khartoum on Sunday. At least one person died, more than 300 were wounded, while cases of rape and sexual violence have been reported, allegedly committed by paramilitaries.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in all parts of Sudan yesterday, rejecting any negotiation or partnership with the leaders of the coup, and rejecting the agreement signed in Khartoum yesterday between Gen Abdelfattah El Burhan, leader of the military junta, and Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, to return the country to democratic transition in terms of the Constitutional Document.

Sudanese across the country are preparing to take to the streets today in the Marches of Millions, as political divisions and divergences in demands and paths prevail. Marches have already begun in several cities and in Khartoum, where the streets leading to the General Command of the Armed Forces, as well as major bridges have been closed, amid a heavy deployment of police and other regular forces.
