The Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha segment in Karnataka is witnessing a fierce political battle between influential Vokkaliga-caste families. The contest features Congress MP D K Suresh and cardiologist Dr C N Manjunath, who is backed by the BJP-JD(S) alliance. The constituency holds significance for political heavyweights aiming to strengthen their positions.

Villagers talk of unfinished service roads, longer detours, loss of business, rising real estate prices. However, their vote would be on national issues or candidates, they add.

"There's a tight fight" is the oft-repeated comment of many voters in this segment known for its wooden toys and sericulture, on the election scene in this high profile Assembly constituency.
