According to news reports, many of the roads in Ooty are witnessing serpentine traffic pile up. A report by the Times of India (TOI) stated that over the past few weeks, the hill town has been witnessing more than 10,000 footfalls daily, a number expected to rise due to the upcoming summer festival in the first week of May. Traffic congestion has been a persistent issue during the peak tourist season of April and May in this small town spanning about 3 km.
Dysfunctional water ATMs in Nilgiris district are leaving tourists high and dry. Tourists in the hill retreat are facing water shortage as most of the water ATMs are not functioning properly. The sale of plastic water bottles and cool drinks in PET bottles is banned in the Nilgiris. Authorities need to ensure that the water ATMs are in working condition to offer a pleasant experience for tourists.
