to at least kick the can down the road which is something you do a lot in diplomacy. >> a lot of republicans didn't like this deal to begin with and will applaud i imagine the idea of donald trump stepping out of it. bob corker, tim cotton as another, ted cruz potentially. but i asked you about day to day implications a little bit earlier for regular americans, for any american, because there are a lot of folks out there who look at stuff like this who vote ford the president or may not have voted for the president, and say hey listen, i don't care if the president is pushing back on our allies, i don't trust iran, i didn't think the deal was a good idea. when it comes to the kblik implications for americans if we pull out of the deal tomorrow -- i was talking with ian bremmer of the your asia group. he says what he worries about is the price of oil skyrocketing if that does happen. what is your spence? >> yeah.

but, look. you have been firm to your -- and the good people of vermont have elected you so there you are. >> well, bill, i'm not going to ask you to be my vice presidential candidate. that's it. >> well, you might have a chance if you did. now, iran, all right? >> yeah. >> the deal is a bad dual for us. everybody who can read knows that. >> no, i don't know that. >> you really trust the mullahs? do you really trust them? >> no. >> not to cheat? >> this is what you have got. you have got a situation where i don't trust iran. the iranians don't trust the united states. this agreement is not being build on trust. it is being built on verification. >> the mullah came out khomeini came out last week and said we are not going to let you inspect our military installations. you heard them. >> what we will inspect is whether or not they have the capability of moving toward a nuclear weapon. >> how would you know if you can't inspect the military installations where they hide the stuff?
telling us that iran is doing something horrible and that we're protecting a navigation shipping lane that we don't trust iran, so we've got to be there. on the other hand, when they tell us they won't do any enrichment of uranium, now we can trust them? >> i'm glad you said that. it's perfectly obvious that iran is using this crisis inyemen to its advantage. they think the administration is not willing to take a strong stand there in a way that would affect the nuclear negotiations. so iran right now has the upper edge. >> the suite yhouthis saying that the saudis have been defeated. >> up until today, it was the houthis and their allies who were asking for a cease-fire, because they were losing ground in aden and elsewhere. al qaeda on the other hand were

that on friday. he seems to be allowing for a lot of wiggle room there. i have to ask you the same question i asked the republican senator, corker will the senate reject a deal that gives immediate sanctions relief as opposed to phased-in sanctions relief on the sanctions that the senate and congress passed in recent years with regard to iran's nuclear program? >> well bob corker and i have worked very closely together to get the legislation that's moving through congress to the president and signed. it is not a vote on the merits of an agreement. we don't know what's in that agreement until we see it in june. what's been agreed to on april 2nd was a framework. we need to see whether we accomplish our purpose, and our purpose is to have ample time before iran can break out to a nuclear weapon, that we have full inspections so we can find out if they're cheating because we don't trust iran and be able to take effective action to prevent iran from becoming a nuclear weapons state. >> let me ask you this before i let you go.
