Dover Library to offer ‘Exporting Heifers to Morrocco’ COURTESY OF THE DOVER PUBLIC LIBRARY The Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover, will offer the program “Exporting Heifers to Morrocco” at 6:30 p.m. July 26 in the community room. The program will be led by Joe Miller, who will share slides and stories about exporting heifers from Sugarcreek to Taroudant, Morocco. To register: 330-343-6123.
Dover Library resumes Paint Night programs COURTESY OF THE DOVER PUBLIC LIBRARY The Dover Public Library will resume its Paint Night programs beginning at 4 p.m. June 12. The first paint night will feature a painting project entitled “Tropical Sunset.” Participants can learn how to create a gradient background and a silhouette foreground. Paint nights will be limited to eight students. The beginner class will be repeated if more students are interested. Future classes may build on the skills learned from the Tropical Sunset class to teach more advanced techniques. Cost: $5. To re...

Historically Speaking: Why is that 'Samuel C. Fisher' sign on Summer Street? Tony McManus DOVER - Across the front of the building designated as 17 Summer St. is a good-sized sign: "Samuel C. Fisher." He is the third member of the group that invested in the purchase of Ricker's Field in 1868. At the time of the purchase, he was living at what is 19 Summer at the corner of Summer and Locust, but that lies outside the area of their purchase, and the house itself predates their investment by almost 40 years.
