SHARON Ponting passed away on Friday, April 9. Sharon lived in Down Ampney for 55 years. Her funeral will be held at Kingsdown Crematorium for family only due to the current restrictions. When restrictions are lifted there will be a service at All Saints’ Church for all those who knew her and would like to pay their respects. In the meantime, donations to the Stroke Association www.stroke.org.uk in memory of Sharon would be welcomed. A VILLAGE is appealing for help to raise £40,000 to save its much-loved children’s playground. Over the past 20 years, the playground in Down Ampney has been enjoyed by many children from the village and the surrounding area. However, the play surface is now very close to the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced to ensure that children can continue to play here for many years to come. In Fairford, the RBL members put up a covered table in the forecourt of the Palmer Hall on the Saturday before Remembrance Sunday and also left collection boxes in high footfall areas such as pubs and shops.
