For a seventh consecutive week, infections had declined, and there were now just over 3,000 active cases. Picture: EWN CAPE TOWN - There's been a huge spike in trauma cases presenting at Western Cape hospitals. A week before advanced level 3 lockdown rules were relaxed, officials recorded an average of 41 trauma cases per day. This shot up to about 77 daily cases for the week after a ban on the sale of liquor was lifted.
About 100,000 health-care workers in the Western Cape are set to be vaccinated against Covid-19 as provincial authorities gear themselves up for what is arguably the biggest vaccination programme the country has seen.
