The government on Wednesday banned import of foreign drones with certain exceptions as part of efforts to promote domestic manufacturing of drones in the country.
The government will allow certain exceptions to this rule, including allowing drone imports for R&D, defence and security purposes, but with due clearances.
Manufacturers and service providers associated with India’s drone industry will benefit from regulatory reforms, the PLI scheme, and a ban on drone imports.
