what we see recently is an increase in trafficking of ketamine across the world. and what is special about this increase in supply of ketamine is that it comes from illicit sources. so we are talking about illicitly manufactured ketamine, not the medical not diverted medical ketamine. and this illicit ketamine is produced in large scale industrial labs in south east asia. and what needs to be done? what can be done? what we notice is that there is an uneven landscape with regards to drug control across countries. so ketamine is strictly controlled in some countries, but not in others, and it makes international collaborations just so much more challenging. so this is something to look into. the other aspect is that ketamine is a relatively new phenomenon in many countries. it used to be around as one of the many drugs, but not a big problem like what you're describing now in the uk. so i think there is also a need to increase the awareness that ketamine is a dangerous drugs. it can cause serious negative health implications for people using it, particularly those using it over a longer period of time. so we need to increase here the risk awareness also among the potential user groups, and that's mainly a young people. and that's exactly what my colleague rachel stonehouse from the bbc
