Collins Pamba, man who helped ex-military officer dispose of kin bodies jailed for five years

The High Court in Nyeri has sentenced Collins Pamba, the man who helped a former Kenya Defence Forces soldier dispose of the bodies of his wife and two children in Nanyuki to five years in jail.
In her judgment on Thursday, Justice Florence Muchemi ruled that she was convinced that Pamba, had been acting under the instructions of former military officer Major Peter Mugure, the prime suspect in the three murders.
Justice Muchemi noted that last year, in an affidavit, the investigating officer had said that Major Mugure had sent his sister Nancy Mugure to visit Pamba at Kerugoya Prison- to ask him to recant his confession. ....

Suspect in son's killing wants to be released on bond

A Nyeri-based businessman accused of murdering his son will remain in custody until April 20 when the court will rule on his bond application.
Yesterday, Stephen Wang’ondu appeared before High Court judge Florence Muchemi to apply for bond, alongside his co-accused James Mahinda Mwangi, Eddy Kariuki Ngari, Raphael Wachira Kariuki and Geoffrey Warutumo Waturi.
They have denied murdering Daniel Mwangi Wang’ondu, whose body was found in a pool of blood at his gate in Wendiga village on January 1. Mwangi was 32.
The 74-year-old Wang’ondu is accused of hiring hit-men to eliminate his son, claims he denied. ....

Father, four suspects deny killing son

A prominent Nyeri businessman has been charged with the brutal murder of his son.
Stephen Wang’ondu,75, was charged alongside four other suspects over the killing of his 33-year-old son Daniel Mwangi on New Year s Day.
Other suspects who were charged were James Mahinda, Geoffrey Warutumo, Eddy Kariuki and Raphael Wachira.
The five were accused of jointly killing Mwangi on January 1, this year at Mwiyogo area in Nyeri County, charges they all denied.
The five appeared before Justice Florence Muchemi at Nyeri High Court after psychiatric tests carried out at Kenyatta National Hospital s Othaya Annex, showed that the five were mentally stable to face murder charges. ....
