A Hopkinsville man was charged Wednesday morning with theft after police say he took a woman’s phone. Hopkinsville Police say on March 16th 27-year-old Dustin Gary was talking with a woman about mowing her yard when he offered to clear her emails off her phone. The woman went inside her home briefly and when she came outside Gary along with her phone was gone. Gary is charged with theft by unlawful taking.

An arrest warrant for felony theft was served Wednesday afternoon against a Hopkinsville man. It alleges that 27-year old Dustin Gary of Hopkinsville met a woman at her home on March 16 about possibly mowing her yard. They talked on her patio and he expressed interest in her phone and offered to assist her with deleting emails from the phone. The woman went inside briefly and when she returned, Gary and her phone were gone. Gary has denied stealing the device, according to the warrant.
