The Catamounts dominated the faceoff dot with Tommy Burke going 24-for-34 (70%) on the day. They also won the ground ball battle (42-29) and went 20-for-22 in the clearing game while Syracuse went 23-for-28. Vermont also outshot Syracuse 55-32 and put 33 of their shots on cage. UMBC’s Nick Dupuis ended the longest game in school history, propelling the Retrievers past Stony Brook, 13-12, in quadruple-overtime Saturday. The win was UMBC’s second-straight OT win and moves them to 2-0 (1-0 America East). Both goalies shined in the extra periods with multiple saves, weathering man-down attempts and scoring chances.
