The Lincoln High School boys basketball team was supposed to host Lanphier for the Class 3A sectional championship last year. 
The COVID-19 pandemic, instead, dashed its hopes to partake in a bygone Central State Eight Conference rivalry with more than just bragging rights on the line. The winner would ve advanced to the Springfield Supersectional at the Bank of Springfield Center for a chance at a state berth. 
The Railsplitters and Lions did find some consolation on Saturday at Lober-Nika Gymnasium, almost a year since that anticipated showdown on March 13 was canceled.
But Lincoln (3-0) cherished it more in the end, surging to a 56-49 nonconference victory over the host Lions (0-1). ....
