India is developing standards for swappable electric bus batteries to ensure interoperability and ease of battery change, addressing range anxiety. The focus is on creating common swapping stations for all e-buses to improve efficiency and reduce infrastructure needs.
Under the project, the government plans to set up charging infrastructure across 5,500 km of national highways along the golden quadrilateral.
Talking to reporters after the flag-off Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena said, "These buses will contribute in a huge way in combating pollution. I am hopeful that we will be able to stop the pollution with these steps."
BMTC has recalled the tender for 440 electric buses comprising 120 9m non-ac buses and 320 12 low-floor AC buses as the state government decided to reduce the overall bank guarantee required to be submitted by service providers. The change is also likely to reduce the operational cost paid by BMTC in the form of per km charges.
