Each year, the ESA recognises the impact of the work of leading Australian ecologists by awarding Gold Medals. Prof. Kingsford has made a significant contribution to understanding the impact of water resource developments on rivers and wetlands. The change includes increasing the “bag limit” (the number of birds able to be shot each day) from two birds to five per hunter, and removing geographic restrictions on where teal duck species can be shot.
