Eddie Martin Valencia is charged with involuntary manslaughter.Â
The incident happened on Saturday, Feb. 20, around 9 p.m. A press release from Fayette Police said the incident happened in the boy s home and involved a member of his family.Â
According to court documents, Valencia called police to report the incident, and officers arrived to find the son dead. Police said Valencia told them he was checking his weapon and dry fired the gun when it went off. Dry firing is when someone pulls the trigger on a gun with no ammunition in the chamber.
When the gun went off, Valencia saw his son had been hit and called 911.
