This is the 25th case of suicide by a student in Kota this year. Last week, another girl student from Jharkhand died by suicide in Kota, which is a coaching hub.
The number of student deaths in Rajasthan's coaching hub of Kota rose to 22 after two NEET aspirants allegedly died by suicide on Sunday. In two separate incidents, Avishkar Shambaji Kasle, 17, and Adarsh Raj, 18, died after taking routine tests at their coaching institutes.
According to officials, the deceased, S Jegadeeswaran (19) was an aspirant, and hanged self a day earlier after having flunked the NEET examination twice.
'The number of suicide cases of students of all these institutions and various coaching centres including coaching centres for NEET across the country are not maintained,' Sarkar said.
In recent years, the coaching hub of Kota has witnessed a large number of student suicides. In December last year, three coaching students had allegedly died by suicide on the same day.
Police said no suicide note has been recovered from Roshan's room in Mahaveer Nagar Police station area, but they believe he hanged himself from the ceiling fan apparently because he failed to qualify NEET-UG with good marks even at his second attempt.
The psychological counselling for NEET-UG aspirants began in Tamil Nadu on July 19 as several students in the state had died by suicide last year after failing to crack the exam.
