We compare Dell's XPS 13 2-in-1 (9310) with the more affordable Inspiron 13 2-in-1 (7306). There's a clear winner in terms of features and design, but the price will no doubt play a big factor.
The underside panel and lid are made from plastic, rather than metal, but neither feels nor looks any the worse for that. The lid has some flex to it but you'll not notice that unless you apply deliberate twisting force. A metal chassis and palm rest ensure the main body of the device is solid. At 1.73kg, the Inspiron 15 7000 isn’t unduly heavy for a 15.6in convertible. Nor, at 354 x 238 x 17mm, is it unduly large. I'll leave it up to you to ponder the issues surrounding how usable a laptop weighing nearly as much as four iPads is as a tablet.
