The Hillcrest Academy boys basketball team suffered only their second loss since Christmas break on Friday, falling 48-30 at No. 9 Pekin. The Ravens led 9-5 after the first quarter with Eli Ours supplying all of the Hillcrest points. Pekin took the lead for good with an 8-0 run in the second frame to go up 21-15 at half. They parlayed that into an 18-4 run that spanned portions of the second and third quarter and would lead 33-24 going to the fourth. The Hillcrest Academy boys basketball team is back in action Friday when they travel to Pekin to take on the Panthers. The Ravens come in with a 10-5 overall record, they are 8-4 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference and 8-1 since the holiday break. They rolled through Columbus a week ago 65-27 in Kalona led by Eli Ours 25 points including seven of eight sharp shooting from downtown. John Hughes added 14 points in the victory. A pair of KCII area boys basketball teams played a defensive grinder Saturday at Highland High School as the visiting Hillcrest Ravens scored a 41-36 win over the Huskies. The game was back and forth most of the day, with Highland leading 12-7 after the first eight minutes, and the Ravens countering in the second period 19-11 to take a 26-23 lead into the half.
