Germanwings airbus flight as well as we re getting some information regarding whether or not the plane transmitted this emergency distress call. right now reuters is saying according to french air traffic controllers that quote, we did not pick up any emergency alert during the time that it was tracked, the flight was tracked. this was confusing information on whether the plane transmitted a distress code on the transponder. we re working to verify as much as possible. as you well know this investigation is just beginning and the majority of the search and rescue team not having having not reached the site of the crash at this point. that does it for this edition of quts nation. up next, quts andrea mitchell reports. ....
Airplane you may be flying on today. joining me is an aviation consultant who has spent more than 30,000-plus hours in the air. you hear about this, what the your reaction? no emergency distress call. so that tells me the pilots did not do what they were supposed to do. that tells me right away you have a weather-related incident. it is 6:00 to 7:00 in the evening over there in the java sea where the plane went down. evidently the weather is so bad that they have suspended the search because of the weather there and all the bits of severe thunderstorms. what goes wrong in the minutes before this happens? ....
Bus. we heard there were reports that the pilot requested to climb and gain altitude. some of these go far high sner. absolutely. and incidentally i m a former ntsb investigator as well. you were talking about thunderstorms over 50,000 feet. he was deviateing. obviously this man was this man was obviously looking at his on board radar trying to deviate around whatever he saw that looked threatening. lastly no emergency distress call. the aircraft itself is down wherever it may be down. why may that be? pilots get very busy especial ....
Folks who know the planes best who have the best and most credibili credible chetheories, what do pilots find most credible about the plane? this is such a magnificent airplane. it just doesn t come out of the sky. there are so many back up systems had there been a mechanical failure. there seems to have been enough time that a emergency distress call would have been given off. that tends to lead a number of the people myself included that there was some type of human intervention that contributed to this accident that caused that aircraft to deviate from it s intended flight path. we don t know who was in the cockpit at the time. what i believe is that, that aircraft was purpose pufully tud ....
Have rendered the airplane incapacitated. whatever happened happened very, very quickly. for them to have lost two-way radio communication with atc, two-whey radio communication with the company and to lose any kind of radar data with ground control facilities means that that airplane was comp pro miszed in a very quick manner. and it may have been well beyond the control of the crew to keep the airplane under control and make any kind of emergency distress call or emergency landing. all right. greg fife, tom fuentes, thank you gentlemen, appreciate it. you re welcome. it s that time of year again. it s time to spring forward. get those clocks ready. daylight saving time kicks in at 2:00 a.m. so don t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed. that s the best way to do it. we lose an hour of sleep. but just think about all that extra daylight time we re now going to get. ....
