I want to take a moment to talk about something deeply personal. my best friend tia garner passed away after a long excruciating battle with pancreatic cancer. tia, along with o friend laura and i, were kind of a goofy trio. we went through the trials and tribulations of growing up together in virginia. she met the only man she would ever love, richard garner at uva and embarked on an incredible career in investment banking. then came her pregnancy with twins and the challenging arrival of william and emily. tia and i thought it would be great if our daughters had the same name, same spelling, everything. we have two emilys, mine and hers. when tia was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago, she set out to try and beat it. she traveled the country looking for the best doctors, the latest medicines. she tried everything. and we, our morning joe ....
Reported to the university last year that they were raped. none of the reports led to expulsions, and there is no way of knowing how many are like emilys and they didn t report what happened to them. you start to wonder well, will it do me any good to report it? for some people it is worth it, for some people it is not. reporter: she found it too hard to finish. i was having panic attacks on campus and literally running from class to class because i was so fearful of running into the person that had hurt me. eventually she dropped her case but told cnn she witnessed disturbing scenes like having to carry friends out of frat parties where she says they were drugged. people use words like oh, that is the rapy frat. a majority of them are like oh, ....
Grandmother. i think this is a really important symbol for people. there are a lot of grandparents raising kids right now, because either the parents are busy or they have care for them. that also is another way for this. i think especially for sasha and malia growing up in this environment. we are seeing them be normal. that is the biggest thing of all. i think. you probably don t remember this. people really picked on amy carter. they picked on her looks. they picked on chelsea as well. i think the way that they have protected their two daughters has been amazing and great and you will be able to see them blossom and grow because of it. our goal is policymaking that extends that protection to all the emilys and sashas and malias of the world. thank you, thomas rob lerts. i really appreciate you. thank you too for coming and giving us some of that inside insight on the first lady. anthea and emily are going to ....
