"Philippe Manier is convinced that the trial will, after a fair process, establish his innocence," said Mes Emmanuel Altit and Alexis Guedj, his lawyers in a press release.
In Paris, Philippe Hategekimana is sentenced to life imprisonment for genocide and crimes against humanity committed in Rwanda. The credibility of testimonies was at the heart of this trial.
Judges at a U.N. war crimes court ruled that elderly Rwandan genocide suspect Felicien Kabuga is unfit to stand trial but said slimmed-down legal proceedings in his case can continue, in a decision published on Wednesday.
