Provincially appointed facilitator to review local government in Waterloo Region
Waterloo regional council has approved an agreement reached with the union representing Grand River Transit workers. The three-year agreement reached earlier this week ended a nine-day strike, and bus service resumed Thursday.
The Region of Waterloo says Grand River Transit workers have agreed to a new contract that will see them get a 9.88 per cent wage and benefit increase over three years. Regional council is set to meet Thursday to ratify the agreement.
Striking Grand River Transit workers have accepted an agreement with the Region of Waterloo and buses will resume service on Thursday. The region has also said it will offer free transit for passengers for 12 days in May.
