It was on route in japan to the "uss ronald reagan" off the coast of okinawa. this is a c 2 plane which is a twin engine propeller plane. it generally brings people and mail. it's one of the ways that sailors get their mail on aircraft carriers. it lands and takes off from the carrier deck. it's generally referred to as a cod and it's a somewhat unusual aircraft, when you're a passenger in it you're flying backwards. there aren't any windows so it's dark. in this case the cod crashed into the water with 11 passengers on board. u.s. military officials tell us they were all u.s. service members....
