Apple patent reveals a way that will allow users to 'Feel' 3D controls on the surface of an iDevice Display acting as a VR Headset Controller
A new Apple patent application clearly illustrates that it relates to a future VR Headset system. Though the heart of the patent is about the introduction of a new haptic device that allows users to distinguish 3D shapes on an iDevice display that could act as a game controller for a VR headset. The user can't see the controller with the headset on and so will rely on "feeling' the controls on an iDevice display.
