Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On December 22, Deputy Minister of Food, Agriculture and LIght Industry G.Batsuuri attended a Steering Committee meeting of the project, ‘Ensuring Sustainability and Resilience (ENSURE) of Green Landscapes in Mongolia’, being jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the UN Development Programme. In the framework of the project, the ministry is working in partnership with local authority and herders in implementing management plans on proper usage of pasture and reducing pasture degradation in 600 thousand hectares in 13 soums.
The objectives for the year of 2021 include reducing pasture degradation to a certain extent, strengthening the livestock breeding programme and the operations of the newly established breeding unit, and increase the income of herder households by 10 percent through implementing four marketing plans on developing the value-added agricultural products.
