Other bills, including ron widen s, that could solve the problem without the government interference. the danger is what this bill does is deny the art of medicine. i practiced medicine for 27 years. the most important thing i can bring to my patient isn t my knowledge, it isn t my training. it is my experience in knowing that not every patient is the same. not every disease is the same. and a good portion of the time, 20% of the time, i have to do something other than what the textbook would say to get that patient well. this wipes all that out. and what it s going to do is destroy the quality that we have and eliminate the innovation in this country. so my attitude is let s take the good in this bill, which as we ve said, a new mark for coverage in this country as a goal. and take up the issue of all the bad that you and many others, myself included, can enumerate. and begin the legislative process of maintaining that coverage threshold. ....
